What we do
through the GATE project?
Empowering Schools for Europe's Green Future
Through the GATE project, we help schools become active players in Europe’s green transition.
Building Skills for Sustainable Schools
We support students, teachers and education leaders in developing the skills, knowledge and values needed to build more sustainable and resilient schools.
Sustainability in Action: Learning for a Greener Future
Our work focuses on bringing sustainability to life inside classrooms and across whole school communities – through innovative tools, real-world learning and inclusive, participatory approaches.
Practical Solutions for Green Education
We provide schools and policy makers with practical solutions to embed green competences into daily teaching, school governance and policy development.
Everything we do is based on the GreenComp framework, the European reference for sustainability competences.
Resources
In this section, you will find all the materials developed by the project to support schools in their transition to more sustainable practices. The resources are designed for teachers, school administrators, students, and policymakers, and cover various aspects of sustainability education.
The Project
is built around five key pillars
Self-Evaluation Framework
A practical tool that helps schools assess and improve their sustainability practices in teaching, leadership, operations and community engagement.
Capacity-Building Programme
Training resources and workshops that support teachers and policymakers in integrating sustainability into their work.
Policy Forum & Recommendations
Events and materials that support educational authorities in adopting evidence-based, future-oriented sustainability policies.
Sustainable School Certification
A model to formally recognise schools that demonstrate commitment to systemic sustainability.
Pilot Activities
Real-world testing of the framework and training programme in schools across Europe, involving students and staff.
